This is not a normal meeting, especially after the latest situation in northern Kosovo, Josep Borrell said after a busy day in Brussels, from meetings with Kurti and Vucinqi.
Here are the three most important messages Borrell gave, after the meeting, sums up Periscopi:
- PARTIES LIVING DIVEL FOR MEANING: Borrell said it belongs to Kurt and Vuciqi to overcome the last situation created. He said that before September 1st, an agreement should be reached on this situation. He said no tensions would be allowed especially after the war in Ukraine.
- J The EU's DIRECTION: Borrell said he made it clear to both leaders that they should find their way to the EU, overcoming problems and finding a solution to each other's reports.
- A TAKING OF THE SEPTEMBER 1: Borrell implied that even a meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi should be held before September 1st, the day Kosovo has warned the implementation of reciprocity on license plates and documents, insisting that there should be an agreement for that.
Here are statements transliterated by Periscope, supporting our above-recise points:
I made it clear to both leaders that EU membership must be advanced. We did it knowing that Tensions are no solution. Today, there was no progress in a deal but no surrender.
The most important result I can report is that we will continue on in this political process, for an acceptable agreement for both sides”, he said.
Unfortunately we haven't reached agreement at today's meeting, but this is not the end of this story, both leaders have agreed to resume discussion in the coming days, we have until September 1st. No deal today, but no stop. We have to keep looking for solutions. At the conclusion of the meeting I became clear to the two leaders that the EU and membership in it must be their pledge and have to find a way to advance further on this road and the first step is to find ways in the current situation”
“Let me just say that today's meeting wasn't a normal date, or a regular one, along with Lucak, we called this meeting because we're facing negative developments on the ground and growing tensions in the north. I can say that this meeting concerned the respondability of the two leaders, in search of a solution towards peace and stability in this part of Kosovo. And that's when we're at a critical time, we see the return of the war on our continent, after our invasion in Ukraine, we face a dangerous moment and this is no time for growing tensions. It's time to solve long-term problems.
I've told both leaders that this was a meeting in a way of crisis management, that's a meeting for irregular crisis management and the goal was to calm things down on the ground. We're also focused on the road to sweeping normalization. The two leaders had the opportunity to discuss a comprehensive agreement. I believe Kurt and Vuciq realized that there is no alternative but dialogue”./Periscope
