The Democratic League of Kosovo has held today a media conference, with which authorities were asked to stop pressure on teachers on the part of the government and find a solution.
The head of the Women's Forum in LDK, Jehona Lusshak Sadriu, has said that the search for lists with the government's names for suspending their contracts is a threat and has no legal support.
“You have been invited to express our concern over the Kosovo government's approach to strikers in the public sector, with emphasis on education workers. Yesterday's SBASK has launched a general strike in the public sector, while immediately thereafter the government has applied to request lists of education workers who are involved in the strike to suspend them from the salary list, thus severely insulting their dignity and integrity”.
Kosovo's “teachers have gone on strike as a result of the government's inconsistencies”.
Instead of dialogue and finding a solution, the government has chosen the financial threat for teachers and the public sector at a time when the financial crisis in the country is deepening precisely by the inaction of this government”.
“Search lists with the government's names of strikers to condemn or suspend their work contracts is a low hit without legal support. It is a typical practice of the Ottomans to silence demands and discontent with the government”.
