Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister for Dialogue with Serbia, Besnik Bislimi, has blamed the media for being the issue of Association. On the day when the American emissary for the Balkans, Gabriel Esobar, mentioned the topic of Association, Bislim says he has never discussed this issue in Brussels with EU officials.
Bislimi says on public television that he has only discussed this topic in private, in face-to-face meetings with EU envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
“in Brussels, in these 14 months, no Association has ever been discussed. Period. The association is mentioned only in private, private meetings there is nothing, but eight-ta meetings with Mr. Lajcak. Where I have rejected the fact that Brussels is very easily promoted for association, and it is not often talked about disrespecting agreements from Serbia. The Association Agreement was signed in 2013 the first, then 2015. Border management agreement was signed in 2011. If in Brussels the agreements have never been listed by the importance, then why does Association become the topic, rather than the agreement on borders”, he says.
“E's response was that you in Kosovo deal with this topic. Why claim it, because it raises media questions. More interested are the media in Kosovo than those in Brussels”, added Bismini.
On the other hand, he cited a statement by EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, concerning the dialogue and previous topics.
What we're trying to convince the media in Kosovo is that Vuci is manipulator. Why are his statements concerned? There can be no compromise for mutual recognition. I negotiate in Brussels. In the first letter to be sent by Borrell on July 31st, in the preceding paragraph, the last sentence says the following: Spending a year dealing with issues past, instead of dealing with the big landscape and our future, I think it's enough. I tried to translate it literally. What does that mean? It's time not to deal with past issues, but with the big landscape and all-out messages”, he concludes.
