Protest is being held in “Zahir Pajaziti” Square. Although Pristina's minor violation had a major echo in public opinion, a symbolic number of citizens are participating in the protest, writes Periscopi.
According to the Organisation of Thought and Feminist Action, the case of rape is also an alert to the uncertainty and horror that girls and women in Kosovo live in, in every area they find themselves in.
Activist Geraldina Rexhepi said everyone failed. She also received criticism from her 11-year-old parents.
No state has failed, no institutions failed. We failed everything. The first link, the first institution, is family: family has failed. The mother of the girl who's been séez has been dying for days where she's got a daughter for seven hours, the parents of those boys who have been educated in the way that I'm guilty of a macabre crime and don't feel guilty of”, she said.
Rexhepi said we should start changing from ourselves”.
An 11-year-old allegedly was violated by five people, 27 August, in Pristina, Kosovo Police reported on Monday.
The case is suspected to have occurred in a city park.
Two of the suspects are in custody, two others have been detained, while the fifth is still on the run, confirmed by the Kosovo Interior Ministry.
The case prompted numerous reactions, both by the heads of institutions and by other users of social networks./Periscopi/
