China Surrounds Taiwan With Military Operations

Six days of military exercises began Tuesday around Taiwan's Strait, which will last until now, as authoritarian China is trying to install its democratic neighbour and exert pressure on the United States to flee their support of the self-government island.
Four more days of exercise will begin Thursday and last until Sunday, taking place at six locations around the country -- three of which pass into its territorial waters in what Taipei has called serious breach of international norms.
Ship shipments and air traffic will also be closed in these areas to lead towards a blockade, while experts say Beijing is making evidence to remove the island from the rest of the world in the event of a war.
But Pelosi -- who on Tuesday became the highest profile politician to have visited Taiwan since 1997 -- refused to withdraw, making it clear to Beijing that the United States will not abandon their commitment to Taipei. /Periscopi/
