The special prosecutor reacts to Svecla in the case in Leposaviq: Officials Hold Back in Declarations

Kosovo's Special Prosecutor has reacted to statements by Interior Minister Jalal Svecla in case of the police attack on Leposaviq, where the prosecution had released the suspicious person. Special Prosecution told them that Minister Svechla's statement that police officials have asked the Special Prosecutor [...]
The Special Prosecutor said that Minister Svecla's statement that police officials have asked the Special Prosecutor to take into investigation “the scene and that after their insistence, the prosecution did not respond positively to”, does not present the exact mirror of the incident in the legal context, for the fact that the prosecution's painful competence, in concrete case, the specific and complementary competence of P. The SRK for investigating cases, is clearly defined by law and is not in the discretion of police or government officials to determine which cases should be investigated by P SRK and which of the basic prosecutors.
For correction, we announce that, in this case, the Kosovo Police have not followed the regular line of communication scheduled for the investigation cases with the guardian prosecutor, but have communicated with the prosecutor responsible for terrorism in P. The SRK, who after receiving information from police, has estimated that the case has no elements of terrorism, and the same directs it that if further police actions can result in elements of terrorism, the guardian prosecutor at the SPRK” is reportedly reporting to the media.
It also added that the PSRK has not accepted any official report by police on this case, through which it could be determined whether it is competent or not to handle the case.
The first information issued by police and prosecutor authorities in this case is easily found to be in action that is not in P's competence The SRK's and the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Mitrovica has undertaken all investigative actions, as defined by legislation in force. This is confirmed by the official police announcement of The PSRK, where it describes the works that were initiated by the competent prosecution”, says.
The Special Prosecutor has asked state officials to refrain from statements.
By this announcement, The PSRK ensures citizens that it remains fully committed to fulfilling the legal mandate in fighting all forms of crime, within the competence established by law, therefore calls on all state officials to refrain from pressing and inaccurate statements, especially from those dealing with investigation of cases, because such statements do not contribute to the independent and professional investigation of cases and can create confusion in opinion, which undermines the image of institutions of justice and weaken public confidence in their work”
