Rose against Conjufe: There may be mechanisms that control the Special Court

At the meeting held through platform “Zoom”, with civil society, where participants included journalists, Kosovo Specialised Chambers Speaker ( DPSK), Ekaterina Trendafilova, has been declared about Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca's statement of establishing a control mechanism against this court.

“As far as it is concerned, I read and have also conveyed Mr. Konjufca's statement, Parliament Speaker, I have to express my view, we are court, no court can be in surveillance coming from the legislature or executive branch, this is not possible”, Trendafilova said, when asked by reporters regarding the Konjufca statement.

It also stated that it stresses once again that only individuals can be charged with crimes that are in the jurisdiction of the DPS, rather than ethnic groups, organisations or any other entity.

The decision on who will be charged for a crime belongs exclusively to the specialised prosecutor, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office (ZPS) and the Specialised Chambers are separate and independent institutions from each other”, she said.

Initially, regarding this meeting with civil society, which was scheduled to be held in Gjilan, Trandafilova said her trip to Kosovo has been planned for two months.

“A significant part of my plan was to be in Gjilan to meet with all of you personally, however, as Angela said, given summertime, a large number of participants expressed the preference of joining the meeting through “Zoom” and we believe that we will be able to engage in a productive exchange”, she said.

According to her, travel to Kosovo has been postponed, but the same will be here after the summer period.
