“Good morning proudly for the flag of Skenderbe and Ismail Kemal in the courtyard of Europe”, writes Prime Minister Rama.
Albania yesterday, along with Northern Macedonia, officially keys negotiations for accession to the European Union.
July 19th was a historic day, as the country has been aiming for nearly three decades to achieve that very stage.
The EC representative outlined in his speech the obligations Albania has during this long trip towards the European Union. He said the EU expects Albania to respect the European Union's trends on human and minority rights.
He also stressed the need for Albania to be a legal state, where human rights are implemented by completing the Justice Reform, public administration reform, as well as similar reforms.
What happens next?
The EC and Albania will closely co-operate in meeting the obligations and then be passed into the process called “reencing”, where the EC will verify whether or not the conditions have been met and whether reforms have been implemented. Later, the EC will approve the report requiring the country's EU integration. This is a very long road and will depend on the speed of meeting conditions.
