Rama: Albania has never been stronger, thanks to US and EU friendship

Meanwhile to celebrate this great day in “Square Skenderbej” is organised a major holiday, where they have performed the best Albanian singers.

Also through a message displayed on giant monitors set up in “Square Skenderbej”, Prime Minister Edi Rama, has praised the 100-year-old relations between Albania and the United States, while he has listed some of the reasons why they made our country to open the door to the European Union.

What a day! What an evening.

A century ago, on July 28, 1922, Albania was linked to the United States, nine days ago Albania's road was officially, without return, to the one denied for centuries!

Imagine it just for a moment, brothers and sisters, just for a moment: Neither our parents, nor our grandparents, nor our ancestors, nor our fathers, nor our fathers, never did the Albanians before us have our destiny and our opportunity! The fate and possibility of free choice of their destination, though, from Djerj Kastriot, the dream killed, injured, violated, denied, all generations before us came from the sun rising from the setting! They survived the ranks of empires and regimes that did not choose them themselves, while we have the destiny and opportunity to live on the summit where Albania has its natural place, under the sky of United Europe.

The official launch of negotiations for membership in the European Union is only the end of the start of an extremely challenging but appropriate, tiring but beautiful but long but not lonely road. From the most lonely, the poorest country in the continent, we are now, not more developed and poorer than just three decades ago, we are more than ever before in these three decades, protected by any danger, between our two major strategic allies, the US and the EU, and respected by everyone in the international arena, as a small country, but with character and dignity.

Albania top O The SEU, Albania at the United Nations Security Council, Albania at the negotiating table for membership, air Albania, and soon NATO's naval base, Albania, at the head of the process of transforming the region from a war zone and conflict, to a zone of peace and economic development, all these developments of the past few years, that not our parents and grandparents, but not many of us could have imagined until a few years ago, when Albania had lost its compass and any international dignity!

Yes, of course, on the way up here, besides our crucial role in these years, there have been a lot of other contributors, starting with those who came out on the street with a call, “We love Albania as the whole of Europe! ”, to anyone who put a stone on this wall that we've been building so far with great effort and patience and above all with clear vision for Albania. But the height to which we have climbed today, it also tells us how low we were when we left, and how much more road and effort has yet to reach the dream summit for 500 years.

Have faith! Have faith that the top will be ours, because ours is the burden that history has assigned us to carry the flag of Skenderbe and Ismail Kemal to that top, ours is the mission of ensuring the irrevocability of Albania's modernisation path, ours are the pains of this particular one, where the slides of the collapses are inevitable, but where the triumph of justice is inevitable!

Feel good tonight, feel good every day away, because the strongest Albania has never been, ever, stronger than Albanians in Albania today and in this region have never been, thanks without question to the two heads of the eagle of our friendships, the United States and the European Union. Feel safe in the future and motivated to work more and more every day so that it becomes Albania's present day! And above all, be proud of Albania and of the most beautiful flag in the world, for today our flag is among the other two, who are the incarnation of freedom, democracy and power to go forward every day safely!
