Like Kosovo Telecom workers, those of the “Trepca” have been offered the opportunity to retire early and benefit 60 percent of the salary. While some workers have welcomed this offer, other conditions have been requested by the miners' union.

The nation has offered its workers early retirement in exchange for a salary percentage and voluntary deals to cut off the labour contract.
According to data, 2,344 were employed in the nation by the end of 2021.

The “Treps” offer is not valid for the people in whom the company has invested in their establishment and professional development and which it considers important categories in the development of the company.

The offer envisions that each retired employee in the next four years retires prematurely and benefits 60 percent of the current gross salary until retirement. While, voluntary agreements on cutting the contract offer 24 immediate salaries to the worker.

Beqiri, who has a salary of over 700 euros, says that 60 percent of his retirement salary is a solid income, but he would like to hire the boy instead.

This offer for tripca workers has opened on 21 June and closes on 21 July.

Radio Free Europe has failed to receive information about the number of workers who have applied so far, as well as the most detailed reasons for this offer.
The economy ministry and the company's board “Shrepca” have not responded to REL calls.

But, in the company's letter “Trepca” to workers, reforms and restructuring of the company's organisational structure are reportedly under way.

According to the letter, workers who will not benefit from this exit package programme must prepare for a multitasking, activity and measurable journey with the new performance management system, which comes into force at the time of adopting the new organisational structure.

But I had an offer to disagree with representatives of the Trepca Workers' Union.
Gani Osmani, representative of this union, tells Radio Free Europe that employees of the “Trepca” have the right to each decide whether to accept the offer, but the union requires other conditions.

He says special law must be made for miners, where early retirement would be regulated by law.

These offers can't be made as for Trepca, as for Telekomin. There have been large numbers of workers at the telekom, and restructuring is designed to reduce this number. It's a different situation, in the Three, it's working, and it's going to take the workforce, he says.

“The workers who are employed in {Trepchė who have experience for three or four years can accept the offer and leave by finding another job, but {Trepca” will remain bad without those workers”, Osmani adds.

Shala: Offering does not solve problems in “

Parliamentary Commission for Business, Work and Transfers Chairman Ferat Shala says problems with these offers are not resolved.

“This is the worst news I hear about Kosovo's economy, the mining industry, and in particular about Shrepca. The steps this Government is taking are short-term steps without any economic, social and developmental results. There are progressive steps, steps that in the absence of developmental ideas, lack of development program, we have come into a situation where the tripcha is near bankruptcy”, he says.

The solution, according to MP Shala, which comes from the ranks of the largest opposition subject, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, is the company's revitalism and opening with the free market, foreign co-operation with specialised companies and investments in the needed technology.

Premature retirement with pay and voluntary agreement on cutting the contract under the same conditions as in “Trepce” was offered to Kosovo Telecom workers.

Kosovo's telecom is a public company transformed into a stock society, and the Government of Kosovo is the owner of 100 per cent share.

In Kosovo Telecom, the deadline for accepting this offer has ended. The offer has been accepted by 302 workers, Free Europe chairman of the Kosovo International Federation of Telecom, Lamih Balaj, tells Radio.

“have applied over 370, a portion of them some have withdrawn, some have been rejected. Exactly 302 employees have accepted early retirement or voluntary cut off of the” contract, he says.

Companies in Financial Crisis

Both Kosovo Telekom and “Trepca” over the years are facing major financial problems.

Kosovo's telecom has once been the most profitable company in the country. According to reports by Kosovo's National Auditing Office, the company has continued the waste operation trend.

According to a 2019 audit report, within five years, the losses recorded amounted to over 115m euros.

This situation, according to telecommunications experts, has resulted from harmful contracts, wrong decision-making, lack of investments, policy intervention in the company's strategic decision making and nepotism.
