Through a media conference, MPs from this party, Ganimet Musliu and Rashit Qalaj, have announced that the PDK has launched the initiative to draft the Bill for the pensions of Kosovo Police Officials and Kosovo Police Inspectorate officers with police authorization.
Musliu has said it is necessary to consider this bill in the shortest term.
“Knowing that Kosovo Police, even though it is the newest police established in Europe, are unfortunately not young even with the age of its officials. The average age of the Kosovo Police exceeds about 47 years so it is necessary to review this bill in the shortest time term so that it can be done as quickly as possible by the Parliament, taking into account exactly the concerns addressed through the bill.”, Mussliu said.
Musliu suggested that they have already collected the necessary signatures and that today they will proceed to the Assembly.
This law defines the recognition of the pension law for Kosovo Police Police officials and Kosovo Police Inspectorate employees with police authorisations, family members, as well as criteria and the right to retirement. This law regulates and defines conditions and criteria for guaranteeing pensions, types of pensions, as well as defines the categories of pension pensions for Kosovo police officials and Kosovo Police Inspectorate employees with police authorization and their family.”, Musliu said.
MP Rashit Qalaj also spoke at the conference, who gave several reasons why, according to him, this bill should be supported by all parliamentary groups in the Kosovo Assembly.
He said police must invest in new generations.
It is so necessary that as soon as possible this law will come to the Assembly. But the main reason is for Kosovo police to invest in new generations. The average age of 47 years shows that police are old and need to be renewed. There are many older police officers with serious illness who can afford to perform their duties as required. Also, Kosovo police have numerous units where different ages serve. They too need to adjust. We seek support for this bill from other parliamentary groups as well, and thus should be voted on by all political parties. ”, MP Qalaj said.
