Nazim Haradinaj defence points to issues to freeze at pre- appeal conference

The defence of Nasim Haradinaj, through a parachute of June 27th, has announced the Appeals panel on issues it will raise during the pre- appeal conference, expected to be held on July 5th.

“S first, Haradinaj's defence states that the number of words for the summary of the 12,000-word complaint is insufficient in concrete cases and for this reason has submitted a demand for the continuation of the same. Defense for Mr. Haradinaj is willing and able to make further oral parachutes by meeting the written request if the panel wants to hear the same”, the letter says.

In addition, Haradinaj's defence reportedly wants to seek clarity on whether substantial complaints will be examined through oral and written prefixes, or whether defence will be allowed to present only written parachutes.

They say the panel remains available to make oral parachutes on the issue if required.

Haradinaj's “Defense does not seek to raise any further specific issues except those quoted above, however, preserves the right to respond to any issues raised by the other parties and to assist the panel on any other issue that runs through the course of the Appeals/” Conference, said at the bottom of the document.

Otherwise, Hysni Gucati and Nasim Haradinaj were convicted on May 18th and sentenced to four and a half years in prison and fines in the amount of 100 euros, for criminal acts linked to obstructing justice administration.

Hysni Gucati, along with Nasim Haradinaj, was charged with criminal acts against justice administration, namely obstructing official persons in performing official duties, fearing witnesses, revenge and violating the secret of the procedure.

The “The charges presented in the confirmed indictment rely on well-based suspicion that at least between 7 September and 25, 2020, Mr. Gucati and Mr. Haradinaj uncovered without authorisation protected information from the Specialised Chambers Law, among which identifying data of several (possibly) witnesses, in three press conferences and other broadcast activities, as well as further distribution involving statements on social networks”, it was said in the announcement of the Specialised Chambers.

Gucati and Haradinaj were charged with making derogatory remarks against potential witnesses and repeatedly expressed their intention to undermine the work of the Specialised Chambers.
