It is a great pleasure that after 17 years of waiting, we are finally starting negotiations. We are opening new prospects for the state and citizens and slowly but we are confident that we are joining the large European family, which has been our strategic goal for decades, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said.
Today, ahead of the Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels and after meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen, and Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala, he indicated he believes this new beginning for the region means prosperity and progress.
On the eve of the Intergovernmental Conference with which we open negotiations on North Macedonia's membership in the European Union, I express my sincere gratitude to all our European Union friends for their support, involvement and dedication in our country's European integration. Their dedication was crucial for us in Brussels today to take the first step that will lead us towards full membership in Union”, said Dimitar Kovachevski, prime minister.
