Fabin Gilla expert on justice and security issues explains what Iranian military formations specialised for cyberwar that may have participated in the unprecedented cyberden attack on Albania last week.
This is probably an attack by the Iranian State-sponsored hackers. The typology of Iran-backed attacks is undertaken by Hackers of Revolutionary Guard. These mainly attack institutions of particular importance to collect intelligence data”-the Fabin Gilla.
Experts Gilla shows which Iranian military unit is behind the attack in Albania.
“Organisations supported by Iran's Intelligence and Security Ministry (MIS) as Muddy Water. In fact, this organisation is part of the MIS, and one of its objectives is to attack the institutions of countries which house and support the Iranian opposition. Muddy Water has attacked the Ministry of Interior and Health in Turkey in February 2022. Another group supported by Iran is what is called Phosphorus or APT35. These mainly track certain persons or institutions by stealing their data and surveillance. They can use confidential data for blackmail, but they can't do it.
Security expert Fabian Juilla suggests that our authority should immediately contact our international partners but, above all, get a touch with the Turkish side to learn how it is managed by them.
Since 2020, Fabian Gilla Iran has invested seriously in cyber warfare and spying, and Albania is among the main goals. According to him, a multidimensional policy is needed before we face an even more destructive attack.
