The Saudi Arabia Civil Aviation Authority announced in a message on twitter that air space will be “opened for all flight societies, meeting the authorities' demands for transit passage”. This measure also enables the flight of planes from Israel to Israel and was hailed by President Biden as “Historical”. “This decision paves the way for an integrated, more stable and secure Nearer East region, which also matters central to US security and well-being and the American population and Israel's security and well-being.”, announced Bideni's national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
Saudi Arabia has declared, that there will be no formal relations with Israel, as long as the conflict between Israel and Palestinians has not been resolved. Biden is expected to be engaged in normalising Saudi Israeli-Arab relations on his visit to Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia Doubles Russian Imports
It was earlier known that the Saudi kingdom from April to June 2022 has imported 647,000 tonnes of oil through Russian and Estonian ports. The Saudi kingdom uses imported oil to generate electricity and can export its crude oil. Much electricity is consumed in the hot summer months in Saudi Arabia.
Russia sells its oil on world markets with visible price reductions due to EU sanctions. There are many states that refuse to buy oil from Russia because of the Russian war in Ukraine. But countries like China, India and many African countries and the Near East have increased their imports.
On Friday, Joe Biden stands in Saudi Arabia, the last station of his visit to the Near East. Biden is expected to promote the Saudi kingdom to increase oil exports. Not only in the EU, even in the US high fuel prices are the subject of the day. Biden is under pressure in the United States because of the increase in these prices, four months before the convention's important elections. Beden dismissed the accusations that with his visit he is putting human rights in second order, following the need for oil.
