Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has said that since receiving the Venice Commission's opinion on Vettingu, they will hold meetings with opposition leaders for Vettingu.
At a media conference after meeting with members of the Working Group for Vetting, Haxhiu said that after completing this process, it would be sent to the Government for initial proceedings and then to the Assembly.
We did a presentation on the recommendations the Venice Commission gave. The presentation was also a discussion with civil society and we highly appreciate it because it was consensus to respect the commission's recommendations and announced that we would keep a worker. We have a draft of the constitutional changes, and after completion we will prosecute the government and by government voting and assembly. Soon we will have talks with opposition leaders and we will also have meetings representatives of the justice system”, she said.
I am interested in having co-operation with political parties. I consider the opposition to be part of these changes. Reform in justice is the government's priority and the ministry is vigorously engaged. The reform is not meant for permanent names, but aims to restore citizens' trust in justice reform. I believe they will respond positively to the invitation for the meeting. The parties have pledged to make Vetting. And as such, I believe there is no reason to give up their vows to the citizens. We must be unique in relation to justice reform. Even at separate meetings with the opposition, they will be addressed over the next few days and we hope that meetings will be successfully concluded”, she said. Haxhiu has said it is impossible for them to proceed to the Vettingin Assembly before July.
The “Commission has recommended that we lower the basis for constitutional recommendations. We will create the external mechanism in order to make the assessment of the heads of courts. We hope that within a short period we will complete the number of amendments. And that is why we cannot prosecute constitutional amendments” in July, she said.
