Roman Ratushny, 24, died Saturday while fighting Russian forces in Izium, a city that is under ruthless promotion, writes the Associated Press.
He was among the demonstrators who had helped oust Ukraine's pro-Russian leader in 2014 and did not hesitate to take up arms when Vladimir Putin began his country's invasion in February.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry was among those who homazhe Ratushnyi posted images from the gathering on Twitter.
“Since Maidan's first day, Roman 17 joined the protests and was among the students beaten by police. At the age of 24, he decided to protect Ukraine from the Russians. We will always remember our brave defenders”, the ministry wrote.
