Sanctions against Russia, Vuciq: We could lose Russia's support for Kosovo

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq at the “forum G LOBSEC 2022” in Bratislava, Slovakia, has said he cannot lose Russia's support for Kosovo, imposing it on sanctions due to Russian aggression in Ukraine. Here he added an unusual thing to Russia, saying Serbia is not an ally [...]
Here he added an unusual thing to Russia, saying Serbia has not allied Russia since it has politically and clearly “for what is happening in Ukraine, but did not impose sanctions on Russia.
Vuciq has stressed that the political situation must be understood because Serbia has always had Russia and China's support for the Kosovo issue and does not want to lose that kind of support.
He added that about 42 percent of Serbs think the war in Ukraine is wrong, but 76 percent of them are against sanctions against Russia, writes RTS.
“Politically, we are acting principledly, because Serbia is always on the side of Ukraine's territorial integrity, but I still ask why today all those who are loud in maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity did not do so in 1999?” said Vuciq.
Saying he did a lot for Ukraine, Vuciq said that “we will not be part of the war in Ukraine, because that's not what we want”.
However, several days ago, Serbia entered a three-year deal with Russia to supply gas in the middle of calls for a Russian gas boycott by Western states.
During the discussion at this forum, Vuciq said: “I am sorry to say this that nobody will listen to, but we all do, you can't survive without Russian gas”, Vuciq was quoted as saying.
