The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic has been shot to death in his office by a close friend, officials say.
The 55-year-old minister, Orlando Jorge Mera, was holding a working meeting at the moment of the attack.
At least six gunshot shots have been heard, reports the BBC, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
According to a presidential spokesman, the alleged crime author is a childhood friend of the minister, Miguel Cruz.
Through a statement, Minister Jorge Mera's family said he had been shot several times by a person with whom he was friends since childhood.
