Blerim Vela, chief of the president's cabinet, Vjosa Osmani, has said it is now proving that the Open Balkans “Balkan” is aimed at Russian hegemony in the Balkans.
Vjosa Osmani's chief adviser's statement came after Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that the “Balkan is Serbia's initiative, which NATO and the EU have not wanted Russia's position in this matter”.
Russia's “Foreign Minister Lavrov openly confirms the link between Russia's hegemonistic goals in Ukraine and Serbia's hegemonic goals towards Kosovo. Furthermore, Lavrov sees the Balkan Open Initiative as an instrument for promoting regional hegemony from Russia and Serbia and to undermine EU and NATO integration”, Vela wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
What did Lavrov say?
The Russian top diplomat had him on the agenda on June 7th to visit Serbia.
But three countries banned the airspace, making it impossible for him to visit.
After that, he at a media conference has said that “nobody can ruin Serbia with Russia”.
Other than that, he has talked about the “Open Bankan”, throwing criticism at NATO and the European Union.
The “is clearly seen as Brussels officials have not wanted us to confirm our position for Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and express support for the Belgrade initiative, Open Balkans”, Lavrov had said.
Lavrov, also mentioned NATO's intervention in Kosovo during the 1999s.
