Another appeal for ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine comes from Pope Francisescu, who in St. Peter's Square prayed before the crowd gathered in the Vatican for finding a lasting solution to the conflict now over 100 days.
The nightmare of war, which is the denial of God's dream, has again fallen. People who kill each other, people who should instead leave their homes.
As the fury of death and destruction continues and conflict spreads, promoting an ever more dangerous escalation for all, I want to stress an appeal to the leaders of the nations. Please, do not lead mankind to ruin.
Start real negotiations, concrete talks on a ceasefire and a sustainable solution. Listen to the call of suffering people, we see it every day in the media. Respect human life, stop the macabre destruction of cities and villages everywhere. We continue to pray for peace”, Papa Francisescu said.
