The attack took place at St. Stephen's Episcopate Church in Westavia Hills, on the outskirts of Birmingham, said police chief Shane Ware. He said the police had received a phone call at 18:20 local time for an active attacker.
Ware said the suspect has been arrested and “has no danger for the community for now”.
Police have not identified the attacker or the victims and offered any details about the attack.
The church shooting took place just a month after one person was killed and five others injured after one person opened fire on Taiwanese believers in a church in southern California. And this attack on this shrine comes seven years after a white supermacist killed people in a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
The United States has recently faced several shooting attacks. On May 14th, ten African-Americans were killed in a grocery store in Bufalo, New York. A week later, an attacker killed 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
On Saturday, June 11, thousands of people in Washington gathered, demanding stricter measures for gun control. / REL/
