Liz Cheney, the republican deputy chairman of the committee, said Trump had “fanned the flame of this” attack.
Bennie Thompson, a Democrat, said the riots endangered American democracy.
Trump supporters attacked Congress on January 6, 2021, when lawmakers met to confirm the victory in Joe Beden's election.
After almost a year of investigation, the US House of Representatives' elected committee, led by the Democrats, opened Thursday evening, featuring parts of interviews conducted with members of the Trump's internal circle.
The images were broadcast by the testimony of former US Prosecutor General Bill Barr, saying the former president's claims that the election had been stolen were groundless.
“We cannot live in a world where the current administration stands in power based on its view, not supported by specific evidence, that there have been frauds in the election”, the former general prosecutor said.
The hearing also presented a record of testimony by Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the former president, saying she admitted “to” and Barr's statement for her father's conspiracy theory.
