The head of state recalled that he has long insisted that Macedonian Bulgarians be included in the Constitution of Northern Macedonia.
The French proposal was approved in the Bulgarian Parliament, with several additional conditions. It already rests with the government to sign and remove vetoes against northern Macedonia, allowing Albania to start EU membership negotiations as well.
But Skopje has rejected the Macron formula, arguing it does not guarantee protection for Macedonian national identity and Macedonian.
