AUV guarantees market products meet criteria

Only products subject to phytosanitary control are sold in the market from this state has confirmed for EO, the spokesman for the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), Lamir Thaci.

According to him, products coming from this country are safe for consumption.

He added, "The origin of where homesickness comes from only because it should be safe, otherwise it is not allowed to enter Kosovo.

The origin of where a commodity comes from doesn't matter for us, it should be safe for consumption, because this is our mandate. Products of animal origin from the state of Serbia do not have because they do not meet veterinarian certificates as required with applicable laws in Kosovo”.

“From Serbia we only have products subjecting to phytosanitary control and each procedure product, border control standards are the same, and only when conditions are met that ensures that they are allowed to enter our country on the other side of the charge return to the country of origin”, he said.

Thaci has said they have conducted the inspection of two cases suspected of poisoning, to which all legal actions have been taken.

He said that the case will also be submitted to the court.

We recently had two suspected cases of poisoning, both of whom had full competence. In any case that at the moment that we were notified by police or the National Institute of Public Health we immediately exercised control over the suspected economic operators, and in both cases we've taken all legal action, we've made temporary closures, we've taken samples for analysis, and we're also going to be sending pre-confrontations to the court depending on the result that comes out of the” lab.

Even consumers whenever they have doubts that are endangered by any particular product reporting the agency because food security is national interest and is the source of health and life of our citizens, said Thaci.

According to him, all the foods available in the market are controlled by the Food and Veterinary Agency, unless that product meets legal criteria, it is destroyed.

All foods that go into circulation for consumers are controlled by the Food and Veterinary Agency, whether from import or local products, all must meet the legal criteria to be named or assessed as safe for them to be allowed to go to the market”.

“On the contrary, any product that does not meet the legal criteria that product is not allowed to go out on the market and eliminate”, Thaci said.

He added that the Food and Veterinary Agency consistently called for increased the number of inspectors.

We consistently submit the demand for increased number of inspectors and are waiting to receive approval to increase our human capacities with food safety checks according to sectors that we have”.

“We have transferred municipal inspectors to the agency but that doesn't mean that they have come to support the agency they will still check the municipalities where they worked until yesterday, only as responsible they have emerged under the agency that we incorporate under national plans for control and failure to be just a responsible authority for food security as it has been arranged in other states”, he told EO.
