The citizens' migration to Western states, year after year, is continuing to grow. During the year 2021 alone, 42 thousand and 728 citizens left Kosovo.
While large migration growth has marked the Gjilan municipality with 4 thousand and 320 citizens who have abandoned the country. The eight most affected municipalities from migration are: Gjilan, Prizren, Pristina, Vushtrria, Suhareka, Malisevo, Gjakova and Podujevo, reports Kosova Press.
According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) for the population's assessment of 2021, it is said that the overwhelming portion of immigrants for 2021 were legal immigrants.
“During 2021, Kosovo's population had a natural increase for 14 391 people. It has been estimated that during this year, 4 122 persons have changed their housing (communal) to 735 persons; immigration (including returnees) in Kosovo, 42,000 persons and have emigrated 42 thousand and 728 persons”, it says in the latest ASS report.
And the balance of international migration (net migration) for 2021 was (-38 606 people). Meanwhile, Kosovo's resident population, for January 01st, December 31st, 2021, declined for (-24 215 people).
The population in Kosovo for 2021 is estimated to be 1 million and 773 thousand and 971 residents.
