The chairman of the Kosovo Medical Oda, Plerat Sejdiu, has said over 80 new doctors will leave Kosovo because they have secured jobs.
He said this number could increase by 200 by the end of the year, adding that 600 health professionals are unemployed.
Sejdiu adds that hospitals need medical attention, although over 1,000 specialisations have been taken from many of them have not started work because they have gone abroad.
I don't see a step to stop. And now we have over 80 new doctors and they've got their jobs and they're going to leave. This number will continue to rise where 200 doctors by the end of the year will go abroad. Close to 600 doctors are unemployed. There are jobs, budget and systematisation of them in hospitals”, he told EO.
The “is an imbalance with municipalities because municipalities need them. Regional hospitals need doctors. Where are these specialists who took over 1,000 specialties because we have information that some of them haven't even started and some of them have gone abroad. The second is working conditions here. It's the manager's fault for our institutions. 90% of the cases have failed”.
He has demanded that Health Minister Rifat Latifi come up with concrete proposals for the chaotic health situation. Sejdiu said he is waiting within two weeks for Minister Latifi to tell about the first steps this minister will take.
I'm Minister Latifi so far because I would record the situation because he inherited the chaotic condition. And it will require the minister to come up with concrete proposals. The minister has said that in two weeks it will come up with concrete proposals. We've sent some ideas and not go with the long-term ones. And we have given a mirror what we need to move forward with three acts of things and we are waiting two weeks to come up with concrete proposals that must take the first steps to be taken”, Sejdiu said.
