He was extradited at the Serbian government's order. Milosevic was arrested in Belgrade on 1 April 2001, after being responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
The trial against Milosevic at The Hague began on 12 February 2002. Extracting evidence of crimes in Kosovo and Croatia and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina lasted until 25 February 2004. His defence began in late August of that year.
The trial process against Milosevic was interrupted dozens of times due to cardiac problems he had and high blood pressure.
On February 22nd, Milosevic declared he was unable to continue questioning witnesses, while on February 24th his request for recovery is rejected in Russia.
On March 11, at 9: 30, he was found dead in his cell.
