A senior U.S. official told the U.S. government newspaper that he followed military exercises in South East Asia as US President Joe Biden met with leaders of Australia, India and Japan in Tokyo.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the two countries sent bombers over the Sea of Japan and the planes continued south towards the East China Sea.
Officials from South Korea have confirmed that two Chinese fighter planes and four Russian fighter planes have entered its air protection zone.
The joint military maneuver appears to be a sign of close ties between China and Russia at the time of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow is focusing on developing relations with China. /Periscopi/
