The Democratic Party of Kosovo has again deemed the Kosovo government's decision to increase the price of electricity.
The deputy head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Uran Ismaili, at a media conference, said this decision has been unnecessary and it is meaningless that citizens will pay their electricity bills with increased when there is sufficient energy production for the needs of domestic consumption.
“Today we're here to present and unlock these facts, and we've taken for example the month of March when our citizens paid off electricity by 100 percent. Energy production has covered consumer demand. Even during March alone, according to figures you see, Kosovo has produced 170 thousand megawatts more than consumer demand. Meanwhile, it has imported only 0.056 per cent of electricity.”, he said.
Ismaili said the government has said it has said that the crisis has occurred due to great import, but facts show Kosovo has not had an energy crisis.
“The rise in the price of electricity has put our citizens ahead of a major dilemma on where the family budget should be divided, should I go to basic products that have been expensive, should I pay the bill or enter a family debt to cover the month. This decision our citizens have been financially damaged has been unfair, unnecessary, and facts show today that we have no need to raise the price of energy.”, Ismaili said.
Meanwhile, MP Eliza Hoxha recalled that Kurti Government after many years turned down electricity reductions, not taking long steps towards the so-called energy crisis.
I say so, the so-called, because irony lies in the fact that the numbers presented by my colleagues even in the convent, and in past press conferences on this issue where it is evident that in February there was a lot of domestic production to cover consumer needs and that import has been at very small percentages, since citizens have paid the February bill at increased prices. And let's not forget it was calculated by half the month according to the ZRRE decision. And, having enough consumption in the Assembly again comes the demand for continued emergency situations. So that's irony.”, Hoxha said.
So, The PDK has initiated the establishment of the Independence Commission for energy, which the deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement are attempting to survive, but in cases when the demand for the commission's establishment comes from 1/3 of the deputies in the plenaary session establishes the commission.
So, to be clear, this commission already under constitution and with the Law for Parliamentary Investigation should be named as established. Otherwise, any attempt to prevent and prevent the establishment of this Investigative Commission constitutes constitutional violations and violation of democracy in the country. This is the first time that parliamentary history prevents the establishment of an investigative commission, but this is not the first time this government violates the constitution.”, Hoxha stressed.
