More military maneuvers are expected today in the history of ballistic countries' relations with NATO, “Hedgehog”.
Military maneuvers will be held in Estonia for two weeks and will include 150,000 soldiers from 10 countries, including Great Britain, the US and non-member countries, Finland and Sweden, who are preparing to apply for membership in the alliance, reports the report.
Though much planned before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, maneuvers are held at a time of particular tension between NATO and Moscow.
The ruling Social Democrat Party of Sweden announced yesterday its intention to submit a bid for the country's NATO membership -- a movement marking a major change in their long-standing position in the defence alliance.
Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson's party came in favour of her country's NATO membership after a special meeting Sunday, according to the party's website.
However, Social Democrats have shown that they do not want nuclear weapons or NATO's permanent bases on their territory.
The party's policy change comes in response to the Ukrainian Russian occupation, which has prompted a review of NATO membership in both Sweden and neighbouring Finland.
