The paper reports that thousands of prison cells are empty in the small state of Kosovo. Although it seems like a business deal, the German newspaper writes that Pristina emphasises that it is not intended to turn business trading into a prison cell model.
The FAZ writes that foreigners who will be sentenced to prison in Denmark to serve their sentences will in the future be sent to Kosovo prisons as a result of an agreement signed between Kosovo and the Danish state in late April.
Denmark's Presiding Justice Minister Nick Hækkerup, who has recently left politics for a job in the business world, has described the deal as innovative, which will enable the release of spaces in Danish prisons.
Concretically, Danish foreigners will come to Kosovo, who after serving the sentence must be deported to countries of origin.
And your future is not in Denmark, so you shouldn't even go to Prison”, said former Danish Minister Nick Hækkerup.
Denmark has recently added anti-imgration rhetoric.
As German media suggest, during the agreement between Copenhagen and Pristina, there has been long discussions, and in the end it has been reached that the agreement has been valid for five years, with an option to extend another five years.
After completion, Kosovo will benefit 210m euros from Denmark, where the majority will be invested in projects to build renewable energy. In other words, the above - mentioned business says: prisoners for solar flow.
