German top diplomat points to reason why she wants Kosovo in the Council of Europe

German top diplomat Annalena Baerbock has said that after his recent visit to the Western Balkans, it is clear that increasing co-operation with these states is crucial. For this reason, she says she supports Kosovo's application to the Council of Europe.

Meanwhile, she, at the meeting of the CoE Committee of Ministers yesterday in Turin, has also talked about the brutality taking place in Ukraine and has said the Council of Europe is one of the main pillars of human rights protection, democracy and rule of law.

Support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe yesterday at the Committee meeting has also expressed Albania and Croatia, which also came up with official statements.

Albania's Deputy Foreign Minister, Maggie Fino, who was part of this meeting, through a Twitter post has indicated he has talked about the Kosovo issue.

It is time to take bold steps for Europe's future, including granting membership to Kosovo and consolidating peace and stability in the Western Balkans”, Fino has written.

Meanwhile, Croatia has said the KiE should be open to accept Kosovo as a member.

The Council of Europe's “Files should be open to membership of those European democracies that share the values of the Council of Europe and are willing to meet membership criteria. In this direction, Croatia supports the Kosovo membership application”, Croatia's MPJ has written yesterday.

For these support, the Kosovo Foreign Ministry came out with a statement to thank and argue why Kosovo should be part of the human rights organisation.
