Disperseing Prime Minister Albin Kurti's announcement of launching membership procedures in the Council of Europe, the German ambassador has voiced his state's support for the process.
“Mazi is expected to see Kosovo as part of the Council of Europe family, which works to promote human rights, democracy and rule of law. Kosovo belongs to the Council of Europe. All the best on the road to membership” has written German ambassador on Twitter.
Serbia, on the other hand, has been alarmed with this Kosovo decision, and its president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has said that with this move Kosovo is violating the Washington agreement. However, in that agreement, which entered into force immediately after the signing in September 2020, Kosovo had pledged not to apply in international organisations for a year, while Serbia had pledged to stop the campaign against the state of Kosovo.
