Opposition parliamentary parties are urgently seeking that the Government focus on dialogue with Serbia, naming the stagnation of this harmful process for the country.
They even estimate that with the reach of the final agreement -- mutual recognition -- Kosovo would also have opportunities for membership in important institutions.
Former Deputy Prime Minister, MP PDK, Enver Hoxhaj in an interview for Online Economy, says mutual recognition should be the key topic of this process.
“Dialog is a key topic, serves the country's interest, and anyone who believes Kosovo will be a UN member state that can only be achieved through Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. I am of the opinion that dialogue on technical issues should be transformed into a political dialogue and that the main topic should be the issue of mutual recognition”.
However, MP Hoxhaj said Serbia is aiming for dialogue to keep Kosovo at the status quo, which he is calling a recipe for destruction for the country.
According to him, the political situation in Europe goes to Kosovo, all to pressure Serbia in meeting goals that have not been met, as he says for 15 years.
The new geopolitical situation in Europe is very favourable for us to pressure Serbia and the West to pressure Serbia to achieve certain old goals that we have not achieved in the last 15 years. We see it as urgent, as vital to reaching an agreement with Serbia”.
Serbia comes to dialogue every time to disagree with us, to buy out time, to keep Kosovo at the status quo. But the status quo in Kosovo is an issue, the recipe for destruction. That's why it's vital that this happen”, Hoxhaj said.
LDK MP Valentina Bunnjaku-Rejepi says dialogue for mutual recognition has turned into technical dialogue and there is no concrete step in this process.
According to her, the government is not expected to complete the topic of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
The dialogue “that has been in the final phase for mutual recognition has turned into technical dialogue and we are not seeing any concrete steps forwarding Kosovo-Serbia” dialogue.
“With this government I have no hope that it will close the topic of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia because it has turned into technical dialogue and meetings are not becoming high and I do not expect any development in Kosovo-Serbia” dialogue.
Even AAK deputy Besnik Tahiri stressed that the full-fledged dialogue has lost out of the context Kosovo aims at, so their demand remains mutual recognition.
“Dialogue in the plot has lost out of the context Kosovo aims at. It's a non-racial dialogue. It's a technical level dialogue and a dialogue that's not bringing results to”.
We demand that as soon as possible the final agreement legally binding for two states with mutual recognition with the American leadership be reached so that this issue can be addressed. For the AAK this is important and this is our attitude. What we need to do is do our job and we need to get out of technical dialogue and focus on mutual recognition”.
