Albania's new president will be elected Saturday afternoon, most likely only with the Socialists' votes. The mayors' conference, which set the date for the fourth round of voting, following the failure of the first three rounds without any candidate, was accompanied by controversy.
Enkeleed Alibeaj did not get involved in discussions on this issue, clearly saying he boycotted it after failing to negotiate with the majority, unlike Grida Dama and Agron Gjerkmaj, who repeated why most were not serious when they sought to elect a consensual candidate together.
But Fatmir Mediu specifically accused Alibeaj of leading negotiations with the Socialists of making the president's election process ridiculous by agreeing to bring a candidate. Socialist Taulant Balla gave the answer, not Alibeaj.
Meanwhile, the Socialists will gather the chairmanship Friday afternoon to decide for the candidate to propose. On Saturday at 8:00 a.m., the parliamentary group will gather signatures to support the candidate for president and hand over the name of what most likely this afternoon will be the new president of the Republic. /tvclean.al/
