71 candidates for deputies and mayors, candidates for important positions, and officials who have applied for promotional growth have resulted in files as associates of former State Security, former security workers and juries in the communist regime's political processes. From 2017 to the end of 2021, the Authority for Information on former State Security Documents, known as the Doss Commission, has verified 2,189 candidates before election, appointment and promotion, of which
2,188 have resulted in clean and 71 linked to former State Security.
The data is reflected in the Commission's 2021 Opening Commission report, where it made a balance of five-year work as well. Of the 71 people identified as linked to former State Security, 13 attempted to become part of the justice dome, namely, the SPAK, BKH, KLP, KED, KLG, ILD, Prosecutor, etc. Meanwhile, six people with files on former State Security have applied and competed to become part of the State Police.
As for the Parliament, MPs have ruled themselves out by law from verification. To MPs, verification is of free will. Only 161 candidates from four political parties have submitted the request for verification for parliamentary elections in 2021. From the verification, 5 candidates have resulted in links to the former State Security. The Dosje Commission does not provide information on whether these 5 candidates have been elected or not, but the fact that only 161 candidates have sought to verify, out of 1841 MPs' candidates in the 2021 elections, are the likelihood that spies and members of the former State Security are in the current coalition.
