Rifman Jasharaj: No retreat, April 20th block education, 100 euros is not enough

The government of Kosovo's decision to separate from 100 euros for public, private sector workers, pensioners and students is not fulfilling SBASK requirements. So says SBASK chairman Nundman Jasharaj, who says they have asked the government for the education sector to be assisted every month by 100 euros to the implementation of the wage law.

Jasharaj does not rule out union actions unless the government meets their demands by 20 April. “As far as this 100 euros is concerned, this is not meeting the requirements of the SBASK because we have demanded that until the implementation of the Law of Pays, the law which would be worked with trade unions, we have a support in the education sector of 100 euros per month. The convention version remains in force, and strikes remain the option because we from the government have no signal for the Law of Pays. If we have met our demands by April 20th, there will be union action”, says Jashar.

Even, Kosovo Health Union Federation Chairman Blerim Syla has commented on the Kosovo Government's decision to allocate 100 euros for April to pensioners, the private sector, doctors, educators, policemen and others.

According to him, this executive decision is welcome but does not solve the long - term problem of doctors but also other categories.

According to him, the government has taken action to buy out time. The “is simply buying time out for fear of social unrest. This amount does not solve the problem of doctors or those who are rightly demanding salary increases. We as a doctor do not withdraw from our demands”, Syla told Blic newspaper.

And there has been an immediate BSPK response. The BSPK's response reportedly welcomes the “pledge of Prime Minister Kurti, while adding that they hope that this pledge will not remain just a statement.

“The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo welcomes dialogue, even when it comes in the form of a declaration by the first of the government, is expecting this not to remain only a declaration said to be carried out and to increase the economic and social welfare of employees and citizens who build and love this country” anywhere, it is said in response.
