Gruevski is accused of adopting 1.3m euros from the party he led to buy land to make construction. He fled to Hungary in November 2018 to avoid serving a two-year prison sentence in a second trial and was immediately given political asylum in Budapest.
The court confiscated Gruevski's property. It's about apartment and parcels at Vodno. The seizure includes three luxury residences in “Panorama Residence”, as well as two residences on Bihaqka Street.
The seizure has ruled out properties owned by Gruevski's mother. Prosecutor Lile Stefanova said that according to market value, the confiscated property of all convicts amounts to the value of around 3m euros.
I consider that the prosecution in this case offered and unveiled quality evidence from which the device of the indictment was fully witnessed”, said Lile Stefanova, prosecutor.
However, Stefanova did not suffice to measure Gruevski and Mijalkov's sentence and warned a complaint. Anke also warned the defense. Mijalkov's lawyer says there has been no evidence against him, nor has he confiscated his property in the <x0 Group in Vodno”.
We didn't like the stated sentence that was more severe than money laundering, while the assistant, if, during the money laundering, has been punished more severely than those who committed the criminal act”, said Zvonko Davidovovic, Mijalkov's lawyer.
According to the indictment, money from VMRO-DPMNE membership, which has been paid on behalf of the party, has ended up in Gruevski. With that money, via Belize, Gruevski has bought property in Skopje, and has hidden ownership. It's property of 1.3m euros. /Alsat
