An explosion has occurred at a mine in Serbia, leaving at least eight people dead and about 20 injured, according to local media.
B92 writes that part of the earth collapsed after the explosion occurred at the “mine Soko” near Sokobanje and several other miners have remained blocked.
From the first reports, according to Serbian media, in the early hours of Friday's morning, the methane has erupted.
“Sic teaches unofficial RTS, has injured and dead miners”, Media write in Belgrade.
The figures so far are contradictory and in the media in Serbia.
“Novosti” suggests, referring to its sources, that 20 miners have remained blocked. A rescue operation is under way and ten miners have been released so far. ”
“The miners were killed and 20 were injured”, Health Centre in Aleksinac Director Rodoljub Zivadinovic said. Other Serbian media also report 58 miners have been saved so far.
“Soco” is one of the most dangerous job mines in which sometimes explosions occurred and where dozens of miners have lost their lives”, writes Blic.
