LDK Deputy Chairman Albanian Medici has spoken at a media conference regarding the State Department's Kosovo report. Medici said the government's impunity of attacks on journalists sets a poor example for society.
Medici said the LDK condemns the practice of attacks on media.
“The LDK condemns the practice of attacks on the media no matter where they come from. The government's impunity of attacks on journalists sets a poor example for society and provides an opportunity for that example to be followed by others”, Medic said.
She also said that the UN also presents the difficulties journalists have faced in trying to approach public documents.
“export of The UN highlights the difficulties journalists have faced in trying to approach public documents. Let us also remember that Freedom House's latest report highlights the government as quoting Kurti undertook a series of key decisions involving Kosovo-Serbia dialogue with limited transparency and without consulting the assembly. Consequently, we ask the government to address these concerns presented in several international reports”, said Medici.
The LDK has asked the government to take the State Department report seriously.
The rule of law during 2021 in the UN report has been characterised by the government's inaction and institutions to prosecute corruption cases. Meanwhile, corruption cases remain unpunished. The LDK wants the Kosovo government to take the UN report seriously and not ignore it”, she said.
