HANDICOS, in collaboration with the Office of Prime Minister/ The Office for Good Governance today has organized the round table with the “theme. The exchange of experiences with states which have ratified the Convention on the Rights of Disabled Persons, where Kosovo's deputy prime minister, Ms. Emilia Rexhepi, chairman of the Commission, Mrs. Duda Balje, representative of the ombudsman, Mrs. Edona Hajrullahu, representative of UNMIK-OHCHR, Jerome Bouyjou, as well as representatives of organisations of disabled persons.
Participants during the meeting exchanged ideas and stressed the necessity of including the Convention for the Rights of restricted persons in the Kosovo Constitution, HANDIOS reports.
Of particular importance were the exchange of experiences for this purpose from Bosnia and Herzegovina's legalist, Mr. Suvad Zahirovic, who has shown how the situation of disabled people there has changed after ratification of the convention in question.
HANDICOS Director, Mr. Africa Maliqi raised the need and importance of ratifying the Convention in the Constitution of Kosovo, citing also the pledge that has been made by the Kosovo Parliament Speaker for that purpose.
Deputy Prime Minister Mrs. Emilja Rexhepi before the attendees highlighted the issue of employing disabled persons and the government's recent decision to implement that right.

Commission for Human Rights Chairman Mrs. Duda Balje has stressed the importance of being united all the acters in pushing the issue forward.

Zuwad Zahirovic legalist from Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown the importance of organising the Convention in the Constitution and sharing different experiences from there as a model.
