United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has congratulated Emmanuel Macron on his anticipated victory.

Boris Johnson writes he is eager to work with the re-elected leader of “one of our closest and most important allies”.

“Ureme for Emmanuel Macron in your re-election as president of France. France is one of our closest and most important allies. I look forward to continuing to work together on issues that matter most to our two countries and the world”, he wrote on Twitter.

The results in the French presidential elections have emerged, and current President Emmanuel Macron, who was the favourite to win, has secured a second term with 58% of the vote, the projections show.
