Nearly half of Germans, French oppose Albania in the EU

However, this percentage is the lowest of 2018.

43% of French respondents in 2022 oppose Albania's EU membership, unlike 2018, where the percentage was 56%.

The highest is the percentage of French pro-member Albania in the EU, where in 2022 it is 21% compared to 13% in 2018.

Even the German population seems to have the same opinion, as 44% of them think Albania is not ready to be part of the EU, but again that figure is more promising than the year 2018, where 55% and German opposed.

40% of Spaniards in 2022 agree that Albania will become part of the EU, while 24% oppose it.

The country that is most supportive of Albania as part of the EU is Italy, where 45% are pro and 27% against.

Citizens of these four European countries, according to the survey, share the same stance in relation to countries in the region as Montenegro, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia.

Thus, the highest percentage of French and German people think that countries in the region are not ready to join the EU, but otherwise happens to Spain and Italy.

For Montenegro, 35% of the French oppose EU membership, while 26% are pro. As for the Germans, 35% oppose Montenegro's EU membership, while 30% are pro. 45% of Spaniards think Montenegro should be in the EU, while 18% oppose. As for the Italians, 28% are pro and 30% against.

For Serbia, 42% of French people oppose this country's EU membership, 23% are pro. Germans, 41% of them think Serbia should not be in the EU, 27% think it should. 41% of Spaniards believe Serbia should be in the EU, 23% are against it. 37% of Italians think Serbia should not be in the EU, while 33% are pro.

North Macedonia, according to 36% of French people should not be in the EU, while 23% think they should. 36% of Germans, on the other hand, think RMV should be in the EU, while 31% think they shouldn't. The Spaniards, 45% of them think the RMV should be in the EU, 19% are against. 35% of Italians think RMV should be introduced into the EU, 32% are against it.

For Bosnia and Herzegovina, 40% of French people think they should not enter the EU, 24% think they should. Germans, 35% oppose this country's EU membership, 33% are pro. 45% of Spaniards are pro-membership, 19% oppose. While 35% of Italians think Bosnia and Herzegovina should join the EU, 325 oppose it.

As far as Kosovo is concerned, 44% of French people oppose its EU membership, 19% are pro. 41% of Germans oppose Kosovo in the EU, 27% of them are pro. While, 35% of Spaniards think Kosovo is ready for the EU, 27% against. 35% of Italians are not for Kosovo's EU membership, 33% support membership.

The state of which the four Union countries agree most to its EU membership is Norway, where over 70% of these countries' population is pro, and below 10% against.

The data was taken from the survey of 19739 adults in France, 2045 in Germany, 1021 in Spain and 1020, for the 9-21 March period.

The poll is made by the international data company YouGov, which measures public opinion on various issues through polls.
