An additional 400m euros have been earmarked for the European Peace Fund, which buys weapons for Ukraine, while some other expenses will be for bilateral remittances to Ukraine and elsewhere, the source said on Friday, April 15th.
Earlier, German Economy Minister said the Germans should start saving energy to become more independent of Russian fossil fuels, which would also be one of the answers to Russia after the start of the Ukraine invasion on 24 February.
At the time that the death toll of civilians in Ukraine is rising, during the Russian occupation, Germany is under pressure to flee from Russian gas and oil, as critics say Moscow's revenues provide vital means for war.
Moscow describes its invasion in Ukraine as a “special military operation”.
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck has said Germany could become less dependent if citizens reduce energy consumption by proposing the use of trains or bicycles whenever possible, instead of driving by vehicles.
Each mile that does not pass contributes to easier escape from Russia's energy supplies. We also protect climate”, Habeck said in an interview for Funke Media Group, Reuters reported.
Habeck said a 10 per cent reduction of individual energy consumption is possible, adding that employers can contribute by offering workers the opportunity to work from home wherever possible.
