Kosovo's New Civil Code failed to be adopted in the Assembly a month ago, 29 deputies from 61 vote-on vote were already against 28.

During the Assembly session, where the same sex marriages under the Civil Code were discussed were heated controversy.

The Demi Mourthezi Labinoma stated that with her vote against this project the code targets “to protect public morality”.

Any connection outside this combination is considered debauched and moral degeneration. I declare my vote against the form of this civil code, so I say yes to traditional marriage, to protect public morality, to protect public health and above all the protection of children's best interest”, she said among other things.

VV deputy Eman Nundman, has also indicated against the civil code. According to him, his political commitment has meaning at the moment it goes against the rights of the LGBTI community.

I had asked Justice Minister (Albulena Haxhiu) very sincerely to pull this draft code today, to remove these two points and come without those two points. I'll still be against it. This has nothing to do with my will, with my political commitment, with what I'm doing here”, he said in the Assembly.
