Britain sanctions two Bosnian Serb politicians, Dodik and Cvianovic

Sanctions, which include asset freezes and travel stops, are the first against officials in Bosnia to become known by the United Kingdom.
Dodik is the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite presidency.
Cvianovic is president of the Republika Srpska entity.
Encouraged by Russia's system for undermining international rules, the two individuals have used their authority positions to advance the de facto secession of the Republika Srpska ʹ one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's two entities, in full opposition to the constitution of the state”, have announced to British authorities on April 11th.
On January 5th of this year, the US State Department has also imposed sanctions on Dodik.
The U.S. Treasury Department has said that sanctions express the commitment of the US President Joe Biden's administration to promote their long-term peace accords, among other things, to undermine the stability of the Western Balkan region through corruption and threats to long-term peace agreements.
Republika Srpska along with the Muslim-Croatian Federation are the two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Such organisation is done with the so-called Dayton Agreement, which has ended the war in Bosnia in the 1990s. / REL
