He has said this will be the last year where farmers will compensate for the damage as a result of climate conditions.
“This will be the last year where we as minister will make damages compensation, ad-hoc payments are useful for the farmer, but the goal is that we have to make efforts for the coming years to raise awareness that farmers should make the insurance signature”, Peci said.
According to him, losses in the last 10 years of compensation have been 80m euros.
The ministry's budget for direct payment is 50m euros, but we will see what the number of applications will be and that it doesn't know whether it remains with only 50m euros. We are aware that one of the challenges is loss from climate conditions. In the last 10 years our farmers have suffered losses of 80m euros or 50 percent of the annual agricultural product as a result of climate factors”, the minister has declared.
These statements, Peci has given him at a meeting organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), in co-operation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MBPZHR), with the theme “Agriculture Security growth agriculture in Kosovo, managing weather risks”, reports Online Economy. It said that losses as a result of climate factors in the last 10 years were 80m euros
