President Biden will meet with NATO and EU leaders at a summit in Brussels 24 March. It will also attend a planned meeting of the European Council, where further sanctions are being imposed on Russia, as well as humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“During the time it will be there, its goal will be to meet directly with its European counterparts and talk and assess the situation at this point of conflict as Russia attacks Ukraine. We've had extremely harmonised attitudes so far”, said Mrs. Psaki. “This does not happen by chance. The President believes too much in diplomacy, face to face. So this is an opportunity to do just that” thing.
The trip follows last week's visit by Vice President Kamala Harris to NATO's eastern wing countries, Poland and Romania, to discuss the growing refugee crisis in Eastern Europe, triggered by Russia's attack and to underline the support of President Biden's administration for NATO countries. / VOA/
