Schmitt answers to Kadare's criticism: She talked about the book she read.

Albanian history researcher Oliver Schmitt has responded to Ismail Kadare's criticism of the book “Skenderbeu” He says that this book was used for political overtones. The main problem was that Kadare hasn't read the book at all. He could not read this book because he had given this interview only a few days after [...] was presented.
The main problem was that Kadare hasn't read the book at all. He could not read this book because he has given this interview just days after the book's presentation in Tirana. So he talked about a book he didn't know”, Schmitt said.
A writer, of course, may also be a highly suspicious reaction unfortunately he has put the publication of this book in the context of Kosovo's independence and spoke of the top of the Ajsberg, a historical conspiracy handled by Belgrade and introduced the author of the book, i.e., as a Serbian agent”, he explained.
I have in this book that Skenderbeu is of Serbian descent. It's an ideological crime of Kadare that reflects this fear and therefore also because of the very important position in Kadare's cultural life in Albania. Many people had full faith, that is, they have reacted that we do not need to read this book because Kadare has already told the truth”, Schmitt said.
Of course, for an author, such a situation is difficult, how can you react. I know what I wrote and I can only invite people to read the book”, Schmitt said.
